UDRP Watch: Buzz Aldrin, Manny Ramirez, and Brazilian Finance Follies
Friday, July 9th, 2010
Celebrities, parking woes, big companies, and more.
Here are a few recent UDRP filings and decisions of note.
BuzzAldrin.net – Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin has picked up the domain name BuzzAldrin.net. He already owns BuzzAldrin.com, which he uses to promote his media products and iPhone and iPad apps.
MyBT.com – This UDRP was just filed by British Telecom. I think the parked page is really going to hurt the respondent. First link: “BT Mobile Phones”. All of the links are related to communications.
Crediare.com – Reading this decision, you get the feeling the panelist thinks the complainant’s lawyer is incompetent. The Brazil-based financial company makes half-baked assertions at best.
UltimateGuitar.com – Hmm. Guy uses Ultimate-Guitar.com as his web site. Over time, gets trademarks for “Ultimate Guitar”. Then he’s awarded UltimateGuitar.com.
MannyRamirez.net – Manny Ramirez ended up not needing an arbitrator to award him the domain name. The respondent just gave it to him.
