Afternic Releases New Portfolio Manager for Big Domain Sellers

New API makes it easier for large domainers to manage inventory on NameMedia sales network.

Domain name sales venue Afternic has released a new product for large domain name portfolio owners called Afternic Portfolio Manager. The company bills the product as an easy-to-use domain distribution and inventory management tool for selling domain names.

Among its features is the ability to instantaneously add, edit, and remove domains from Afternic and its distribution partners, such as Register.com and Network Solutions. While the existing Afternic management interface works well for most portfolios, the new web service can handle larger portfolios.

TurnCommerce, the company behind NameBee, has been using Afternic Portfolio Manager over the past month to manage is 200,000+ domain name inventory. The company reports a 20% increase in domain sales through Afternic since it started using the new product.

Afternic customers interested in using the the new manager should contact Afternic support or their account manager for details and access.

    I don’t get it.

How can the API increase sales? I see management being helped out, but not sales.

Thanks for the questions. My name is Sarah Ptalis and I manage the product for AfternicDLS.

@evin.in: we are looking for domain owners that have more than a few thousand names. In order to take advantage of the API, the domain owner would have to not only have a large number of domain names, but we would also have to be able to work with your preferred registrar. In some situations, the large domain holder has their own credentials, so we can work with them to integrate. In the case that the domain holder does not have their own credentials, we can try and work with one of your preferred registrars or we can work with one of our premium promotion partners.

@Tim: The API does two things. First off, we’ve made it easier for domain holders to manage their portfolio. Secondly, and to your answer your question, the API provides the domain holder full access to all of our premium promotion partners, providing the greatest distribution breadth as well as targeting the greatest amount of end-users. Our network extends to over 22 reseller sites including 2 of the largest registrars; Register.com and NSI.
