Company Sends Press Release After Buying $1,088 Domain Name

Company brings new meaning to “pumping”.

I’m not sure what it’s like being a company traded on the pink sheets. But a lot of them try to do whatever they can to hype themselves.

Today The Amergence Group (PINKSHEETS: AMNG) sent out a press release titled “Amergence Group Successfully Bids on and Acquires PanPacific International Domain Name.” The company bought PanPacificInternational.com from BuyDomains “in concert with its venture partner, PanPacific Business, Inc.”

I know what you’re thinking. That doesn’t seem like premium domain, or anything important enough to send out a press release. But when you read “bids on and Acquires” and “with its venture partner”, you’re thinking there must be some serious money involved here.

$1,088.

Yep, that appears to be the “buy now” price that The Amergence Group paid BuyDomains to acquire the domain name. A listing for the domain is still on Sedo with that price.

“Bid” might be a strong term for “made an offer” or “clicked the buy now button”.

But I suppose if The Amergence Group was trying to get some visibility from this, I just gave them some. Now if only they updated the web site at the domain from BuyDomain’s content page to something relevant prior to sending out the press release.

Jokes on them. I’m going to squat PanPacificIntl.com and make a mint.

@Josh: And after seeing some of the sales in DNJournal week after week, there just has to be some DUI hand regs that got lucky.

Congratulations to The Amergence Group!!! All day long on domain blogs, domainers dis companies that don’t purchase their product domains in advance, but this one did, so good for it! It’s worth a press release Amergence got the name it wants at a decent price, instead of pay an inflated price after the fact . . . a company to watch, wouldn’t you say?

I love it! Takes some balls to put it out but more power to them. No reason to be ashamed of the purchase. They must love the domain and anything to get promotion for the name works for me. Press On!

Going to the domain URL, via the linked Press Release in this story: “The domain panpacificinternational.com is for sale. To purchase, call BuyDomains.com at 781-839-7903 or 866-866-2700. Click here for more details.”

    FAIL!

I hope this isn’t the start of a new trend. I can see it now:

Today The Shameless Puffery Group (PINKSHEETS: SPGI) sent out a press release titled “Shameless Puffery Group Successfully Registers and Acquires ShamelessPufferyGroupInternational.ws Domain Name.” The company registered ShamelessPufferyGroupInternational.ws at GoDaddy.com “in concert with its venture partner, Pop Bottle Deposit Fee Recovery Specialists Inc. who provided a substantial portion of the $9.95 capital outlay needed to complete the landmark transaction.”

Jacobs likes to send out press releases.

He is trying to create interest by venture capitalists.

I wonder if he has a twitter account?
He probably list what he had for breakfeast.

I believe there is another guy in the northwest that also sends out a number of press releases regarding his domain purchases.

(Sorry. I forgot today is “be nice” day.)

“That doesn’t seem like premium domain, or anything important enough to send out a press release”

LOL – but its important enough for you to blog about! How ironic. :-)

uh? I think its something called the 1st amendment? sump-em about freedom os speech?
you know like Paul Revere hanging out a shingle making some British people mad at him, so then he and his buddies started a revolution and stuff?
see? then they thought, hey? whay not just have freedom of speech?
so then they trew a bunch of tea in the water, no tea baggers yet , thank goodness?

Congratulation to this company. When I buy a domain name over 10k I never send out any press realise. I think I should.
