eNom joins competitors in offering easy domain reseller option.
Joining the ranks of Go Daddy and Tucows, eNom is launching a domain reseller package that includes a web storefront for non-techies. (Update: Instant Reseller will replace the former PDQ program. See comments for details.)
eNom’s system, called “Instant Reseller“, is essentially a reseller-in-a-box package that includes a fully hosted website and customized storefront, a shopping cart feature, order fulfillment and credit card processing capabilities. Previously, resellers needed technical expertise to integrate these features separately.
Instant Reseller costs $249 per year. Tucows’ OpenSRS has a one time $95 activation fee, and then generally charges $3 per domain registered/renewed as a transaction fee. GoDaddy’s Wild West Domains program has three packages that cost between $99 and $229 per year.
Like Tucows, eNom built its registration base on a reseller network. GoDaddy has generally sold direct to the public.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. patent number 7,644,117 to The Go Daddy Group for its reseller programs earlier this year.

You had me scratching my head. Because, it sounded just like Enom’s PDQ program. I believe it cost around $ 99.
I just logged into my Enom acct and noticed they don’t offer it anymore.
So, they are upselling everyone from $ 99. to $ 249. a yr.

You’re right, it looks a lot like this:

Enom TOS for PDQ –
“Any fraud purchase (by the reseller’s customer) and charge backs that occur after 5 days of purchase will be handled by reversing any commissions earned, and charging the domain to you at cost. In any event, no transaction fees will be reversed.”
If a transaction is fraud or the buyer has second thoughts and reverses the transaction after 5 days, the reseller is charged for the domain.
Create way for the reseller to accummulate domains.
And, NO risk on Enom’s part.
🙂

Here are the details on Instant Reseller replacing pdq:
The PDQ program will be sunsetted in Q4 2010.
The Instant Reseller solution could be considered an evolution of the PDQ program, featuring three major improvements:
1) The Instant Reseller storefront is significantly more customizable
2) The Instant Reseller solution will provide resellers with access to new products with which to stock their store; including eNom’s Business Listing, Rich Content and Instant Mobilizer services
3) New domain extensions will be released to the Instant Reseller community direct in to the reseller’s control panel. This will start with the .co domain extension on March 3rd 2010.

Trying not to rain on their parade but the reseller instead of paying $99. pays $ 249. so we can sell more of THEIR products?
It sounds like a profit center rather than a vehicle to generate more business.
Time will tell.

I use another company to resell domains. The prices may be a bit more expensive but I don’t have to pay a yearly or monthly fee which is great for me as I’m starting out. They also provide tonnes of support when I was getting started.
I looked at open srs and the other alternatives but sometimes it worked out more expensive for me in the long term. Take a look if you’re interested http://reseller.rxhost.co.uk
