Last year, the joint effort by AdaptiveBlue, DERI, Faviki, Freebase, Yahoo!, Zemanta and Zigtag even managed to produce a standard called the Common Tag (http://commontag.org). The fact that IBM, who had no role in these efforts so far, is trying to patent this idea makes me sick.
