9. Be somehow different.

Otherwise all the conferences will look the same and bring the same value. IMHO Domainer Mardi Gras is doing great job in trying to make things in a different way. Do not organize another TRAFFIC or DomainFest like conference.

Sounds like you must have went to Traffic conference. How about we dispense with all the giving of awards to the same faces every year also.

Andrew – you more or less just described what HostingCon strives to do. They are successful at it to varying degrees each year. This year they put a big, big push on the no sales pitch presentations. They went so far as to provide a template for Powerpoint and guidelines for how and when your company name and logo could be placed. People really did respond well to it.

Thanks for the tips Andrew. Some of those we’ve already been striving to archive for our event, others we’ll still need to implement. For one I want to announce things a lot earlier for Domain Convergence in the future.

Regarding the attendance list, I think we’ll make this an option on the registration form in the future.
