While those with a vested interest in the rapid rollout of new gTLDs were very unhappy at the prospect of further delay - many of whom have dismissed domainer concerns about the proposed URS, differential pricing, etc. - on the day prior the GAC and GNSO expressed a clear consensus that new gTLDs were not yet ready for prime time and that substantial additional work was required before the application window could open. Given that the latter group has the upper hand in the ICANN ecosystem the consensus view here in Seoul is that applications will not be accepted prior to fall 2010 at the earliest.

I see the domainers are out in full force, gleeful that their portfolio of ~horribename~.com domains will continue to retain some sort of value for another 6 months. Congrats guys!

Oh Boo Hoo.

You don't like spending money while treading water...with no end in sight?

Stop. Give up. And go home.

What the Internet doesn't need is more junk extensions gumming up its operation.

I'm not sure why it's anyone elses problem that these companies jumped the gun. They knew what they were doing, and if they didn't then they are fools.

We've all heard the saying that a group of people is only as smart as the dumbest person in te group. Let's hope that's not the case at these ICANN meetings.
