Registrar adds new “Express Buy” option that speeds up the domain registration process.
One of the complaints you hear over and over about GoDaddy are the pages and pages of cross-sells you encounter when trying to register a domain name. In fact, some people used the company’s mobile web site to register domain names because it had a shorter and easier process. In response, the company has added an option to its home page called “Express Buy”:
Express Buy does just what it says. I tested it this morning and found that registering a domain name was fast. After submitting your domain and and selecting an available result, you proceed directly to a confirmation page where you can enter a coupon code, select your payment method, and agree to the terms and conditions. Then you proceed to a final page where you enter your payment details and submit your order.
This is a welcome change for GoDaddy customers.

This is good news!

Finally!

This is a very very bad thing. Stop speculating at GoDaddy and start investing at Bido.com. They have a ‘quick bid’ button 😉

Andrew, when I tested it the registration term was auto set to 2 years.
I had previously created a Buyer Profile that was supposed to eliminate these time wasters.
I don’t know if Auto-Renew is also pre-selected.
Having to de-select the 2 years slows things down.
Normally it might not matter but it does when you are regging freshly dropped domains.
Buyer’s Express is faster but still needs more work.
Anyone know how to eliminate multi-year registration pre-selects or have express registrations set to a particular Buyer Profile?

This is fantastic. Nothing stinks more than telling someone how to register a domain at GoDaddy. Explaining all the little links and steps to get through their gauntlet of add-ons is a nightmare. Now if they can just add it to their Wild West Domains reseller sites, I’d be golden.

This is good. I’ve made a few mistakes over the years where I “accidentally” bought one of their upsells. And then, had to waste time begging GD to remove the unwanted items.
Maybe I’m the only dummy, but I doubt it. This should improve good will for the company.

This is great. There are a lot of times that I just bailed altogether because of the tedious process. I also just found Godaddy promo code ZINE7 which gives you $7.49 domain names as well as $7.49 renewals for any existing .com domain.

Alberto,
Zine7 actually gives you a $7.67 price when you add in the .18 cents ICANN fee.
In case you’re interested, a better coupon code for new .COM registrations is: yhkw105a
Your cost will be $7.17($6.99 plus .18 cents)

For .COM renewals, the best code is: DNF2
That will give you renewals for
$7.57 ($7.39 plus .18 cents).
Alberto says
ZINE7 is the best for renewals AND new domains, so I stick with that one. It’s non-expiring and benefits one of my favorite rock shows, The Scene Zine. The others are just mooching affiliates.
Patrick McDermott says
“The others are just mooching affiliates.”
Alberto,
I don’t know why you made such a statement.
You certainly have no basis to do so.
Those 2 codes which I listed have been in effect for quite some time and give a better price than your ZINE7 code.
They are NOT my codes and I do not benefit in any way if you use either of them.
I was trying to help you.
I do not have an agenda but it’s obvious you do.
Alberto says
I have my opinion and reasons I support someone. Not sure what your angle is. My agenda is supporting someone who supports independent music. That’s what the ZINE codes do. What do the codes do that you listed besides lining the pockets of an affiliate? Things are more important to me than a few cents in savings.
Patrick McDermott says
“I have my opinion and reasons I support someone. Not sure what your angle is.”
This is my last response to your nonsense since you decided to hijack this thread for your own agenda.
You offered up a discount code for certain GoDaddy domain registrations and you did so without revealing your true motive.
All I did was offer up 2 better discount codes that do not belong to any affiliate and
do not benefit me in any way.
Why don’t you spam somewhere else?
Good riddance.
