Sedo has strong sales week.
Sedo has brokered the sale of ego.com for $75,000. You may think that the buyer has a big ego, but it looks like the buyer has a different meaning in mind. Ego Friendly, LLC has a web site at the address for a motivational product called eGO. According to the web site,
eGO was conceived by researching some of the neurological and psychological aspects of human behavior. We then interviewed people who achieved high levels of success and those who overcame great challenges in life. We found seven focal points that individuals had in common, which built the foundation for their success. These became the seven principles of eGO.
Before you judge the “system” negatively, keep in mind that eGO Friendly did something smart: acquiring a premium domain name for its business. I tried to contact the registered contact in whois to verify his intentions, but the phone number was invalid.
Sedo also sold Hardware.de for 105,910 EUR, or about $150,000 USD at today’s exchange rates. It blinsold a package of blingbling.com, bling-bling.com, blingbling.co.uk for $60,000.

Whoa, if “Gametheory.com” sold for $6900, I wonder how much my “DomainTheories.com” would sell for?
Since none of us seem to have a domain “theory”, i guess I’ll hold on to it until someone comes up with one! lol
cheers
Domain Investor says
Stephen,
I don’t think the market has evolved enough to make your domain valuable. YET? 🙂
If you sold it today, it wouldn’t cover the cost of an oil change for your wife’s new car.
Stephen Douglas says
@ Domain Investor – yep ol buddy, yer right on about that…
But consider this… I’ll now be able to use this term constantly and continuously for years without JayW registering it! That’s a success story in itself! 😉
Eric Borgos says
I was the person who bought gametheory.com for $6901 at a sedo auction. I bought it for speculation, because I thought it was cheap and would do well in Google if I built a mini-site on it. A few days after I bought it Sedo contacted me and said they had a buyer who read about the sale and would pay me $10,000 for it, so I flipped it. I did not buy it with the intent to flip it, but it was too hard to turn down the quick profit.
Andrew Allemann says
@ Eric – I assumed that’s what happened. It seemed like a good price at $6901. Congrats.
Stephen Douglas says
Dang… and I’m selling GameTechnology.org for only $799!
After ten years of buying and selling domains, I’ve figured out that you have to be in the right place at the right time!
Luckily, those right places and times have come regularly for me! (knock on wood)

Stephen Douglas, the master of trying to disguise ads for domain sales as comments 🙂
Stephen Douglas says
@ Lord Dub-A
Well met, Sire! Pray, methinks ye hoist me to a pedestal to be a Master of Goods! Ye have giveth me much illumination of my sales mastery!
Here upon thy stage, I speaketh only of a thought which entered my head about a like domain to which ye refer, and, per chance just a wish on my part to see coins drop into my purse strings in exchange, fairly.
Forsooth! Is this proof of Mastery? So be it, if ye wish such.
Ye honor me much too highly, Lord Dub-A. I shall see thee anon.
(This wasn’t an easy response, folks!)
