People just do not seem to understand. The top level Domains should be passe instead the best thing is to be within protocols and start a registering service which will solve the Namespace problem (the John smith problem) with location. This will eliminate the top level Domains, and open up the net like never before.

1999 supplemental trademark of examing procedures states that the only part of a domain that can be trademarked is to the left of the suffix....reguardless of what the suffix is.
the value of a trademark is to point to the
owner of the goods and services.this is what the uspto has done for domain names added this
supplemetal examing amendment.as i previous stated the uspto is way behind what is need in the marketplace.

Yes trademarks are a funny business. Look at old sedo/greatdomains they are offering toyotahybrid.com in the auction. And people talk about ebay selling trademark domain names. Maybe I am wrong but I am certain toyota is a trademark name. Or maybe its ok for them to sell it I just thought I would let you all see for yourselves.:)

 toyotahybrid.com 20,000 $US 1 4d 7h 37m bid now
