Wendy’s restaurant chain files for arbitration for Wendys.com.mx domain name.
Wendy’s International, Inc. (NYSE: WEN) has filed for arbitration to get the domain name Wendys.com.mx. The domain name currently resolves to a page with the message “Si le interesa comprar este dominio envie un correo a”, which translates to “If you are interested in purchasing this domain please send an email…”
There are over 6,600 Wendy’s stores, many of them franchises, in 22 countries and territories including Mexico. The company’s Mexican operations appear to use the domain name wendysmx.net.
I expect to see many more UDRPs for .mx country code domains in the near future. NIC Mexico, which runs the .mx domain name, is re-opening domain name registration under the top level. (Previously you had to register a domain under the second level, such as .com.mx.) Priority will be given to owners of existing third level .mx domain names, so it makes sense for companies to get those prior to claim rights to the second level domain.

The planned changeover from .com.mx to .mx will most likely bring about a lot more cases in which big corporations which find themselfs late to the game and try to muscle their way in via scare tactics such as threatening legal action against the legal and rightful owners of domains (just as it happend here in the US with .com domains).
The .mx domains will officially be live this September!… for all the poioneer and early bird registrants of generic .com.mx domains… Congratulations! your time of profit is just around the corner!
If any of Domain Brokers or Domain Auction Houses are interested in promoting for sale some of my generic .mx domains such as Banco.mx (Bank in Spanish), Bicicletas.mx (Bicycles in Spanish), Vitaminas.mx (Vitamins in Spanish), Zapatos.mx (Shoes in Spanish)… feel free to email me at rec3@cox.net
Saludos,
