What Happens in Vegas…

Domain Consultant organizes a fun (and productive) event in Las Vegas.

Some might have called it one big party. But after spending the day flying back from Las Vegas yesterday, I can say that the 36 hours I spent in Vegas for the Domain Madness auction were very productive. And fun.

In the tech world there are a number of loosely defined conferences called an “Unmeeting” or “Unconference”. They’re basically a meeting of minds to discuss ideas. No presentations, no sponsors. The get together in Vegas was somewhat like an unconference, but was essentially an event surrounding a live domain auction.

Contrary to what you might have believed on April Fools’ Day, Domain Name News didn’t buy out Domain Name Wire. Adam will need to raise his $250k offer significantly :) Perhaps we should have challenged each other to a round of bowling. Apparently someone else had this buyout idea too.

If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend getting a suite like the Kingpin Suite at The Palms in Las Vegas. (It helps if someone else is paying for it). Domain Consultant went all out with this one. It had a two lane bowling alley, pool table, 10 TVs, a bar, and one complicated remote control that opened the shades and operated all of the audio visual entertainment.     until very late in the day.

    If I had seen it earlier I could have linked to it to further make my NamePros’ post more believable.
