5 Gift Ideas for Domainers

Here are five suggestions for the domainer on your holiday shopping list.

I wrote an article last year with gift suggestions for domainers, but here is an updated list. In case you’re wondering what not to get, be sure to check out a list of stocking stuffers I’d prefer not to see Christmas morning.

1. Domain name gift certificates – gift certificates are great because you can get them in any denomination and everyone can use them. I typically give away GoDaddy gift certificates as prizes on Domain Name Wire because they’re easy to purchase and use.

2. The Domain Game book – this is a must read for every domainer (and person aspiring to be one). Wall Street Journal writer David Kesmodel spent months researching the industry and the final work is worth every penny.

3. TheirName.com – If a domainer doesn’t own lastname.com, it’s probably because they couldn’t get their hands on it. I don’t own Allemann.com because some stubborn Swiss own it. But someone’s name makes a great gift. Just as Rick Latona and Elliot Silver.

4. Subscription to a domain magazine – Stuff a stocking with a subscription to Modern Domainer (free) or Domainer’s Magazine (free trial).

5. Ticket to a domain conference – it’s a bit more expensive, but a great gift. Tickets range from below $1,000 (DOMAINfest Global, Domainer Mardi Gras) to $1,495 for TRAFFIC Silicon Valley.

So who is going to be kind enough to purchase me Ferguson.com? Anyone?

    LOL!

“5. Ticket to a domain conference”

Considering less and less people in 2009 will be attending the typical, mediocre, non-productive trade conferences this might be a way for DomainFest and MardiGras conferences to increase attendance.

@ Domainer: Ouch, that was harsh. I was given a subscription to Domainer’s Magazine last Xmas — makes a nice gift :)

How about a gift to myself? This season I am investing in premium marketing services for more of my domains.
I have experienced an enormous payoff already in the domains that I have invested in.
I think it’s a wonderful idea to gift domains to friends and relatives along with the marketing service so that they have a real chance in seeing success. Otherwise, in most cases the domains may lie dormant.
