I'm a big fan of Ebay domain sales. I think they're interesting. Seems it's just a bunch of amateurs trying to do quick flips. However, I believe "The Fall of Wall Street.com" sold a few days after registration for 12K and then it was back up for sale for 12.5K. Completed sales are only available for about 2-3 weeks, so I can't confirm it. Sometimes they have some big sales though.

Too many worthless domains show up on eBay. They really do pollute the domain listings there. It's a shame because they do have an effective auctioning platform and the feedback system is invaluable.
I suggest serious sellers list theirs domains on eBay but advertise them on their own sites or by other means. That's what I do at http://www.LowReserveDomains.com (shameless plug)

Claude - it used to be, but with all of the crap on there now it takes a lot to standout. There are actually filters out there that try to filter out the good domains from bad. Rick's Widgets.com domain got attention because of the press aroudn it.

Kevin - hadn't noticed that...funny

Hi All:

Your examples are hilarious, however, is eBay all that bad for selling domain names?

Didn't Rick Schwartz recently put Widgets.com on eBay and receive offers of over 100K? Aren't there several well known domain leaders who also got their start on eBay?

Think of the reach that eBay has compared to the "known venues in the domaining world."

Thoughts....

Thanks,
Claude

Hilarious. Thanks for sharing.

You look at the names that actually sell on ebay and many of them are bogus - shill bidding by fake accounts. No real investor actually sells good names on eBay because of all the crap you have to sort through to find anything good.
