Here Comes Ike

Storm heads to Houston, home to many fellow domainers.
Well, here it comes.
Hurricane Ike will make landfall tonight or tomorrow morning, and its rain and wind is already being felt in Texas. Here in Austin it looks like we’ll escape most of it since it has tracked further to the north than expected. A few days ago we expected the storm to hit us as a Hurricane – even though we’re so far from the coast. I’ve lived in Austin 13 years and have never seen a forecast like this.
This is going to be a big storm. Something that Houston hasn’t seen in a long time. And since able Houstonites have been asked to stay put, please keep your fingers crossed for them. Perhaps the biggest contingent of domainers in the area are with iREIT. Board member Marc Ostrofsky also lives there.
On the news last night the weatherman cut and pasted the storm over Texas to show just how big it is. It was much wider than the state. If the storm surge hits Galveston like expected, the entire island will be wiped out. Don’t be fooled by it only being a Category 2 storm. Wind is one thing, water is another.
Hey Sig, I guess its Texas’ turn to feel the wrath of mother nature.
If you’re part of the domain community and located in Houston, please keep us posted (assuming you have electricity). Let us know how you’re doing.

I was just looking at the visible loop at NOAA and it surely is a beast – covers much more area than all of the others biggies I pulled up. It does look disorganized, but it is very big and Im afraid this could get ugly.
I live in College Station, TX, which is ~1 hour outside of Houston. We’re currently providing shelter for refugees from Galveston and Houston.
Please keep all of these homeless families in your thoughts.
