Andrew, likewise I would like to commend you on this site.

On your above post: re: Earlier this decade I had about 150 auto-generated sites. For a short while I was making $1,000 A DAY with these. Then it all disappeared overnight.

How are you monetizing these sites and what are the current site performances?

I recently moved my domains from being dormant at the registrar into a parked site. The domains collectively average 12,000 hits a month, but the comparative expected revenue won’t even pay for the renewals.

I’ve been collecting domains related to my own work for a decade. After getting spammed by several “affiliate marketers” showing flashy houses and cars, I’ve just recently beginning to look into monetizing them. Wondering if I missed the boat.

To address some of the comments:

1. Yes, they still need work. We are a long way from having these be real web sites where people bookmark them and want to come back.

2. Chris, you are absolutely right. In this case they could just block and entire name server. Earlier this decade I had about 150 auto-generated sites. For a short while I was making $1,000 A DAY with these. Then it all disappeared overnight.

These kind of sites scare me – because – well – Google has a hatred for auto-generated sites and seems pretty efficient at blacklisting any domains it finds using such services.

It will be interesting to see what happens.
