TRAFFIC Conference Goes To Brooklyn, GeoExpo Deadline Extended
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008
Two domain name conference updates.
The TRAFFIC domain name conference returns to New York City this fall, but this time it will be in Brooklyn. The conference will take place at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott September 23-26, 2008. Early bird admission is $1,495 through June 15. The price jumps to $1795 August 15 and full price is $1995. Hotel rooms are $299 per night.
Here is Domain Name Wire’s wrap on the most recent conference in Orlando. You can also read DNJournal’s coverage of the event.
If you are into Geo domains, Associated Cities has extended the early bird discount for its July conference until June 8. The early bird price is $595. Domain Name Wire will cover the event, but geo domainers should consider making the trip. It takes place in Chicago July 10-12. Chicago is an easy city to get to and flights are still cheap. I’m flying non-stop for about $250. More details can be found on Associated Cities’ web site.

Why are these TRAFFIC events so outrageously expensive? By the time you factor in airfare, hotel and meals, you’re easily up to $3000+.
I wonder if they made the fee $300 how the turnout would be?
I bet huge! The sponsors would love it.
Their goal isn’t to make the conference “huge”. Charging a lot makes it exclusive. If you’re looking for a less expensive conference, consider Domain Roundtable or DOMAINfest.
Exclusive=Elitist in my eyes
There is a humerous comparison here as Rick always preaches about how a business must pony up for the premium .com domain and then he decides to pull his show out of manhattan for a cheaper alternative….
TRAFFICBrooklyn.biz anyone…..
Should we raise the Geo Expo rate from $595 to make it more exclusive?
I’m getting concerned about that low price attracting some Geodomain riff-raff
@ David – not saying I agree with the Traffic pricing
At the end of the day I guess you charge what people are willing to pay and what maximizes your profit. I don’t have a problem with that.
David…since geo domains are still early in their ascendancy, “Geodomain riff-raff” ; at least for the time being; is a domain oxymoron.
I think I’d be more comfortable hanging out with the Geodomain riff-raff than millionaires going to strip clubs (like I’d be invited…hah!). I’m more of a DIY person than a greed=good entrepreneur.
Of course, given the domains I own, I’ve never been tested by fortune!
