An auction for Affiliate.us is underway after receiving a 120,000 EUR bid at Sedo.
Affiliate.us is being auctioned at Sedo and the reserve is met. Bidding started after the owner received a EUR 120,000 bid (approximately $178,000 USD). The seller is well known, but it is unclear who the buyer is. Given the very high price, let’s hope Sedo verifies the bidder quickly to avoid any sort of embarrassment. “Affiliate” is a valuable term, but this auction would certainly set records.
Sedo has a few other auctions underway that are attracting attention. Porn.fr is currently EUR 30,000 (approximately $44,500 USD) and has met its reserve. DiscountTravel.co.uk is at 16,000 EUR ($24,000 USD), a very strong price for a .co.uk. Chrismas.co.uk has attracted 14 bids and is currently £13,000 ($27,000 USD), but the reserve isn’t met. Finally, ForexInvestor.com is 10,000 EUR ($15,000 USD).
A few of these domains may be up for sale from U.S. investors. By listing domains in Euros they can take advantage of current exchange rates. Although people should factor in differences between currencies, that may be thrown out the door in the heat of an auction.
Sedo’s next Great Domains auction kicks off on Thursday. Some of the top domains (and their reserve ranges) include:
Actors.com $50k-$200k
Coed.com $50k-$200k
Dormitory.com $5k-$20k
FatTuesday.com < $5k
Illustrate.com $20k-$50k
MailOrder.com $200k-$500k
Nap.com $50k-$200k
Our.com $50k-$200k
Per.com $50k-$200k
RSU.com no reserve
Silver.net $50k-$200k
[Update: Zimbabwe.com is now on auction at $130,000. The reserve has been met.]
[Update: Initial suspicions were founded. The auction for Affiliate.us has been removed from Sedo's site. My guess is this could sell for $5k-$20k, up to $75k under the right circumstances.]

Yea right. Give me a break. This domain ain’t worth more than $99
levin says
affiliate.us that is. It is a worthless domain.
M. Menius says
I disagree levin. Affiliate programs are lifeblood on the internet and a source of revenue for many thousands of high traffic sites. Affiliate.com is going up on the block in Macau, China in just several days at the Casino Affiliate convention. Affiliate.US is tops for the United States internet market.
Henry says
$99 You can’t buy anything for $99. A one word .us with that top level keyword, please! Jew.us and Jews.us sold for $20,000 and $25,000 and Video.us sold for $75,000 4/24/07 in Afternic were have you been, what planet! also there has been many $10,000 sales in the .us just go to the DnJournal.com and do a lookup.
Nashville.us sold for $23,000 7/17/07
SexToys.us sold for $15,000 at GreatDomains.com
Christian.us sold for $13,500
There are many more five fugures just look it up. And those are only the reported sales.
Andrew says
Yeah, Affiliate is a great, high dollar keyword. This one is a very strong price, however.
Andrew says
So far the highest .us sale I can find is video.us at $75,000. Does anyone know of something higher?
My SanFrancisco.us domain is still on auction at Moniker’s Geo Auction. The top bid in the live auction was $25k.
Steve M. says
…big congrats to the seller if this sale closes…would be surprised if even the .com version goes for 130k+ …
…and if anyone’s in the market for such, have a .org that just missed the Geo Auction which has never been posted to our sales site: Glendora.org
Best offer over 25k takes.
Mike says
It will be a very nice sale indeed if it goes through. Also think that it will help the .us namespace quite a bit. Other country codes are doing well, seems like .us has to catch up eventually.

now now frank ….your .com bias is showing.
levin says
I guarantee you this domian doesn’t get more than one type-in a day usually if that)
When dot US first came out I got a boat load of generics and dropeed them all. They got almost zero type-ins. They weren’t worth the reg fees. Anyone who builds a site at one of these dot US domains will eventually lose all their customers to the owner of the dot com.
Besides the lack of type-in traffic Affilates.US (the plural) would be much better.
Also it is my guess that whatever type-in dot US domains get, comes from people overseas who don’t know that nobody in the United States uses the extention.

It does not matter if it is worth it or not, none of us bought it so why care? It can only be good for future sales of other domain names people own. Sets the bar.
Andrew says
Well, looks like we were right to be skeptical as the auction has been pulled from Sedo. That said, this domain is worth much more than $99, Levin 🙂
Wayne says
Regarding domainer bias it really doesnt matter what domainers think when it comes to sales values for this tld. You wont get fair value selling to domainers. It matters what the end-users think and when they buy they pay well for .us. If anything the bias has been what has made it possible for those of us who are quietly acquiring this tld to enjoy the degree to which we control it. Sales are not being reported and wont be until we are finished at the table. As far as type-ins go, while important, this is only one guage for value and all it takes is some company like google, yahoo, gm etc to start using it for type-in to grow from present levels and therefore open up new markets for .us
Dave Robins says
“…Chrismas.co.uk has attracted 14 bids and is currently £13,000 ($27,000 USD), but the reserve isn’t met….”
That’s news to me and as the owner of the domain, I can confirm that it isn’t for sale.
Spanish seo services says
too expensive to be a .US domain.
LR says
Dot-us will rise in prestige surely. It is US, and dot-com will decline as no names left and as the world goes by ccTLDs.
