Initial geographical domain auction list released by Moniker.
Moniker released its initial list of domains for the Associated Cities GeoDomains conference auction. The conference will be November 16-17 at the W Hotel in San Francisco, California.
Below are domains with reserve prices over $1,000,000:
cities.us
denver.us
guatemala.com
iraq.com
oklahomacity.com
pittsburgh.us
thedominicanrepublic.com
thehamptons.com
wallstreet.com
Iraq.com was recently auctioned at Sedo but the reserve was not met. I’m surprised that Moniker is including Pittsburgh.us and Denver.us in the auction at such high reserves. If they were .coms, I would expect the reserves to be in this range. Both are owned by Robert Simpson, who has perhaps the finest collection of city.us domain names in existence. I have SanFrancisco.us and KansasCity.us in the auction, but with reserves in the $25,000-$50,000 range and $5,000-$10,000 range respectively.
Moniker gained notoriety when it brokered WallStreet.com for over $1M many years ago. It was in the latest TRAFFIC auction but failed to meet its reserve.
Other domains of interest and their reserve prices:
Iran.com $500k-$750k
Kuwait.com $500k-$750k
Baltimore.net $25k-$50k
Cancun.org $25k-$50k
Nebraska.net $25k-$50k
Africa.info $100k-$250k
Austin.us $100k-$250k (again, see my note about about this price)
Europe.info $100k-$500k
Oregon.us $10k-$50k
This is Moniker’s first geo domain auction. This list is only preliminary and subject to change.

I noticed the Oregon.us name is reserved by Neustar for the State of Oregon. The domain does not resolve. Causes me to wonder who in authority at the state level was authorized to sell the domain. Incidentally, SanFrancisco.us is a terric domain and will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Good point. I searched for all of the other states and they are all registered to the states. I suspect this one doesn’t actually go to the auction.
