Wedding.net Snags $75,000 Bid

$75,000 bid at Afternic triggers reserve for .net domain name.

Wedding.net has received a $75,000 offer at Afternic, which has triggered the reserve and sent the domain to auction (see graphic below). The seller has a “buy now” price of $150,000.

The seller’s description for the domain reads:

RealEstate.net sold for $300,000 in 2/6/07
Career.net $52,500 sold for 2/27/07
Model.net $50,000 sold for 4/10/07
In Google “wedding” search results about 175,000,000

Other notable .net domain sales include:

Sex.net $454,500
News.net $150,000
CreditCards.net $118,500
Net.net $100,000

Of course, a sale isn’t a sale until the check is in the bank and the domain transferred.

Wedding.net isn’t the only domain auction attracting attention. Over at Sedo, Periodico.com has a bid of 25,000 EUR. VideoSurf.com is at $20,000 with 14 bids, laptop.ch is 9,999 EUR with 15 bids, Precio.com is $17,500 with 7 bids, jvb.com is $10,000 with 8 bids, and dou.com is 13,500 EUR with 2 bids.

I bet you Kevin Ham and his team are behind this purchase. In the recent Business2.0 article, Dr. Ham talked about his liking of weddings-related domain names.

For a dot net, this is a great offer!

For any company dealing in weddings, “wedding.net” is an awesome “calling card”… and it’s easy to remember, even a few days before one gets married ; )
