John Wants His Domain Name

The domain name John.com is in fierce bidding at Sedo.

What about John?

The generic domain name John.com has received 17 bids at domain aftermarket Sedo and has met its reserve. The auction will end February 23. You can expect this one to go much higher in the coming days.

John.com isn’t the only name attracting attention at Sedo right now. Foto.pro is at $3,800 with four bidders and less than a day to go. .Pro domains rarely sell for that much. Other .pro domain sales in the same ballpark include Photography.pro for $2,210 and Live.pro for $2,000.

ABC.biz has one bid at $3,100, a high price for a .biz domain name (although this is a good one). NHS.mobi and Pink.mobi have bidders at 5,000 £ and $5,000 respectively.

A couple two letter .orgs have nice bids. JV.org has one bid at $14,000 and FN.org has a whopping 56 bids for $6,099. FN.org is a good example of starting an offering price low to attract lots of bidders. The owner of FN.org is marketing the domain auction through press releases to call attention to the domain. FashionFind.com has a strong bid of $23,000 and closes in about 4 days. Rabatt.net attracted 10,100 EUR, a very strong price for a non-generic .net. Deejay.com has two bids and sits at $8,600. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one creep up to over $10,000.

Competitor Afternic has a stellar sale in the works — CamperLinks.com has a $30,000 offer. It’s too early to tell if this is a legimate bid, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. If anyone wants to by InvestmentLinks.com from me I’ll sell it for less than that :)

John.com would have to be one of the most generic names on the net – Yahoo reveals a search of 757,000,000 Google 578,000,000 MSN 159,791,724 This will be interesting.

Nice find Bob. Interesting indeed. Looks like the auction on eBay ended for $17,100. The seller only has a feedback of 2, so if something funny is going on I think it’s with the eBay auction.

I hope the ebayer that bid $17,100 is slow at paying for his purchase if not he will be one poor john.

Rabatt.net is a generic domain. It means “rebate” or “discount” in German. Still a good price for a German dot net, in my opinion.

Good info Jeff. Definitely sounds like a scam on eBay. Perhaps Sedo got worried and pulled that auction?
