dotMobi to auction domains at TRAFFIC conference

dotMobi announced that 10 generic .mobi domains will be auctioned at this month’s TRAFFIC conference.

Over 150,000 .mobi domain have now been registered. But dotMobi, registry for the new domain, held back a number of high-value, generic .mobi domains that it intends to sell at a premium price.

The registry just announced that 10 of these premium domains will be auctioned during the upcoming TRAFFIC conference. The TRAFFIC conference already has a number of steller domains on auction, including Auction.com, DSL.com, and Text.com.

.Mobi domains caught by Pool have been auctioned off and are setting good prices for these domains on the reseller market. Just last week DNJournal reported the following sales: English.mobi $3,100, DMV.mobi $2,407, Piao.mobi $2,250, MusicDownloads.mobi $2,250, Putas.mobi $1,505, AtlanticCity.mobi $1,450, Tones.mobi $1,320, MusicVideos.mobi $1,211, Tampa.mobi $1,150, Brighton.mobi $1,150, and ConferenceCalls.mobi $1,050.

In regards to .mobi domain names, I would predict that the name hot.mobi will be sold in the range of 200k to 300k this name could go higher. Cheaptickets.mobi will come in second place. As far as the rest it’s anyones guess.
The names that they left open for registering is quite amazing. The .mobi name is like walking into california before the gold rush had hit.

Let it be known that it looks like microsoft registered Livenews.mobi and mobilenews.mobi.

I don’t think Hot.mobi will go for anything like that, but I have no problem being wrong :)

Mortgages.mobi just sold for $10,500. I don’t know that mortgages in this extension makes a lot of sense. I don’t see people looking up mortgage info from their cell phones, at least for the next decade or so.
