eNom has raised its minimum bid for Club Drop expiring domain auctions.
Effective immediately, eNom’s Club Drop starting bid will be $60. Club Drop has steadily raised its minimum bid from $10 to its current price. I used Club Drop a lot when it was affordable, but now there appears to be little reason to go to Club Drop rather than its competitors. So the basic idea is to focus on catching fewer, but more valuable, domain names. This might leave an opening for a cheaper service like NameWinner (by Dotster) to pick up some of the slack.
Message from eNom:
Dear Club Drop Members,
In recent months, there has been a significant increase in competition for catching high-value domain names. During that time, you’ve sent us lots of feedback on how we can improve our success rate at catching high-value names for Club Drop members.
The answer seems simple: increase our resources! However, due to the smaller number of high-value names dropping, the increased number of drop-catchers, and the costs of adding ICANN credentials to our drop-catching system, it’s evident Club Drop must focus its available firepower on fewer, yet more valuable names.
After careful consideration, we believe the fairest and most cost-effective way to improve our success rate in catching high-value names for Club Drop members is to raise the minimum bid. Effective Friday, August 25, minimum bids for all members will be $60; an amount which is competitive with other drop-catch companies and closer to the final price that these valuable names fetch at auction.
Club Drop is already one of the most successful name-catching systems on the market. We recognize that fewer names will be caught with this change, but we believe that by raising the minimum bid we will help improve the quality of the Club Drop system for all our members.
We thank you for using Club Drop and we look forward to continuing to provide this valuable service to you.
