GoDaddy’s 14th ad submission has been accepted by ABC.
GoDaddy has already received more attention for its Super Bowl ad struggle this year than it will likely get from running the actual commercial, but alas ABC has accepted the latest GoDaddy ad submission.
GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons sent out an email today with the following note:
“Why January eNews in February? We were waiting for some exciting news and wanted you to be the first to know: We’re thrilled to announce that we WILL be advertising in Super Bowl® XL. After 14 revisions and weeks of
intense negotiations, the ABC Television network today gave its approval for us to broadcast a “GoDaddy-Esque” commercial in the big game.
The showdown with ABC went down to the wire. We were about out of time and had produced our 14th and final attempt.”

Wow, Godaddy has discovered the subtle art of using women’s boobs to sell stuff. How very 20th century.
I like to think I’m a bottom line business person, but every once in a while you have to draw a line in the sand and say I will not do business with these people.
The line is drawn. Starting next week we are moving our domains off of GoDaddy. Some of them will probably move to Moniker. Others will go to one of the low price holding tanks, maybe 1 and 1 or enom.
I’m sorry to leave GoDaddy. I like their service (although the interface for managing large lists of domain names could be improved.)
It’s a major hassle to leave, but how can I do business with a company that is so disrepectful to women. Why is a technology company acting like a beer company?

What gets me is that GoDaddy thinks it makes creative commercials. These aren’t creative. Anyone can take a model and slap her on the screen.

I saw the commercial tonight. I thought it really sucked.
