George Foreman Gets a KO

George Foreman won rights to GeorgeForeman Enterprises.com, but it wasn’t a TKO.

The victory was just a KO because the previous registrant of the domain name didn’t bother to respond to the UDRP.

In its usual fashion, National Arbitration Forum issued a press release about their arbitration ruling finding in favor of the celebrity boxer-turned-grill-salesman. I have long been a critic of NAF’s practice of issuing press releases after deciding in favor celebrities or large companies because it gives them an incentive to rule in favor of complainant. NAF has issued press releases for decisions including Pearl Jam, Emmitt Smith, Amazon, and Yahoo. Would they have issued a press release if they found against any of these high profile complainents? I don’t think so.
