DNJournal has a great cover story about Internet Real Estate Group. IREG is a heavyweight in the domain name industry. They are responsible for last years biggest reported sale, CreditCards.com for $2.75M. In Ron Jackson’s article he talks about some of IREG’s other big deals, some of which have pricing attached to them for the first time ever. I won’t spoil Ron’s article, but check out some of these sales:
-Beer.com $7M
-Diamond.com $6M
-Shop.com $3.5M
IREG owns Podcast.com and Podcasting.com. Apple recently filed a trademark for iPodcast, and a company called Shae Spencer Management, LLC has an application in for Podcast, but these will likely not challenge IREG’s domains.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the article is that IREG is in strictly a buying mode right now. They feel that domain values are only going up, and they’re on a buying spree. Don’t expect any major sales from IREG in the near future, unless the price is right.
