GoDaddy topples Network Solutions

GoDaddy has officially knocked Network Solutions off its perch! GoDaddy now has more .COM, NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ, and .US domain names under management than any other registrar. This is quite a feat given that GoDaddy sold its first domain name in 2000, just 5 years ago. In a nut shell, here’s what GoDaddy has going for it:

1. Lower prices. With everyday registrations around $9, and special deals around $4, they beat Network Solutions appx $35/year fees…and those of most other registrars.

2. Better account management. Although not as good as some other registrars, GoDaddy’s account management is excellent and certainly better than Network Solutions’.

Add fuel to the fire with GoDaddy’s recent Super Bowl ad and campaign.

I don’t think GoDaddy will become complacent, but look for other registrars to mount a strong challenge.
