Candadian expired domain drop catcher Pool.com has given in to customer pressure and changed its auction system.
A few months ago, Pool instituted a two-phase auction system. If more than one person ordered the same backorder and Pool snagged it, a sealed auction occurred. The top two bidders in the sealed auction then went to a standard auction. The process took a long time, and was frustrating for users.
Pool just announced that it is switching back to a standardy proxy auction. After April 13,
Single backordered domains:
These domains will be billed the standard US $60 fee on the day they are acquired.
Multiple backordered domains:
Domains will be entered in a Standard 3-day Proxy Auction. Only customers who backordered the domain prior to its acquisition by Pool.com will be allowed to participate.
Bids are no longer sealed—All bids are proxy bids.
The period set for an auction lasts between 60-72 hours depending on the TLD and bidding activity.
