Many domain name owners use Google Adsense, and use Adsense’s channel reporting feature to understand which of their domain names and web sites are performing best. Until now, channel reporting was only available two days later than the clicks actually occurred.
Now, Google has announced that channel data will be in REAL TIME, making it much more useful for domain name owners.
Google also announced impression vs. page reporting. This is something I’ve been using with Google for the past few days and really like it. Here’s why:
-Before, you could see the number of ad impressions you had, but no the number of page views. Since you can have up to 3 ad units on a page, it was difficult to convert your CPM to RPM (revenue per thousand page views).
-RPM is the standard for paid parking services.
-Until Google created the RPM option, it was difficult to compare your results on live web sites you operated to results of paid parking programs.
Google’s improvements may have been in the pipeline for a while, but they are no doubt being deployed quickly to face the new Yahoo “adsense-like” service.
